DUBAI: A major export hub named Pakistan Mart is set to open in Dubai, aiming to provide Pakistani exporters direct access to regional and international markets.

According to the state broadcaster, the initiative is a joint effort between Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and UAE logistics firm DP World.

The facility will be constructed near Jebel Ali with DP World pledging to bear all construction costs, Radio Pakistan reported.

Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan has called the project “transformational” for Pakistan’s trade sector, saying it will offer a new platform for more than 500 Pakistani businesses to showcase their products across the UAE, the Gulf, and beyond.

Pakistan Mart will feature integrated commercial spaces including warehouses, retail units, showrooms, and e-commerce fulfilment centres. It is designed to function as a one-stop trade hub for Made-in-Pakistan products – ranging from textiles and garments to surgical instruments, food, perishables, and nutraceuticals.

A high-level delegation from NLC and DP World presented the project to the Ministry of Commerce and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), the Associated Press of Pakistan reported. At the session, DP World Vice Chairman Fakhr-e-Alam said the mart will serve as a prestigious platform to increase Pakistan’s export visibility and connect with global buyers.

How will it make an impact?

Minister Jam Kamal Khan confirmed that businesses using the mart will not be taxed until products are sold, and a minimal rental fee will apply. He also instructed the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and other relevant bodies to support the mart’s development and promote tenancy among export-ready firms.

In FY25, Pakistan’s exports to the UAE rose 1.87 percent to $2.121 billion, while imports climbed 25.75 percent to $7.958 billion. The country’s trade deficit with the UAE widened to $13.974 billion. The new mart is expected to help narrow this gap by lowering logistics barriers and expanding market reach.
